This policy explains what Travel Days (traveldays.unjoblink.org) collects when you visit, why, and
what you can do about it. Travel Days is operated by FIG Consult Limited.
The short version
- We use analytics to understand which articles people read.
- We show advertising, and our advertising partners use cookies and similar
technologies to select ads. Some of that activity counts as a “sale” or
“sharing” of personal information under California law. - You can opt out of that at any time, and we honour the Global Privacy Control
signal automatically. - We do not sell your email address, and we do not knowingly collect anything
from children under 16.
What we collect
Information you give us
If you subscribe to our email list, we collect the email address you submit and the
date you submitted it. If you contact us, we keep your message and your reply address
so we can answer.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically receive:
- your IP address, and an approximate location derived from it (typically no more
precise than city or region); - your browser type, operating system, and device type;
- the pages you view, when, and how long you stay;
- the page or advertisement that referred you, including any campaign parameters
in the link you followed; - identifiers stored in cookies or similar technologies.
We do not use a Meta (Facebook) tracking pixel on this site.
Why we use it
- To run the site — serving pages, remembering preferences,
keeping the site secure and available. - To understand our audience — which articles are read, how
people arrive, which are worth writing more of. - To fund the site — advertising is how this site pays for
itself. Our partners use the information described above to select and measure
ads, and in some cases to personalise them. - To send email you asked for — only if you subscribed, and only
until you unsubscribe.
Advertising and analytics partners
We work with third-party advertising and analytics providers. These partners set
their own cookies and may act as independent controllers of the data they collect.
They may combine information from this site with information gathered elsewhere.
You can learn about interest-based advertising, and opt out of participating
companies, through these industry programmes:
- Digital Advertising Alliance (AdChoices)
- Network Advertising Initiative
- AdChoices Canada
- Your Online Choices (EU)
Google advertising
We show ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use
cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you
based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s
Ads Settings. - You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised
advertising at aboutads.info. - Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at
policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we request non-personalised
ads for you. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and
Switzerland are asked for consent through Google’s consent message before
personalised ads are shown.
We use Google Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with
Google’s browser add-on.
Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by
the CPRA gives you the rights below. We do not discriminate against anyone for
exercising them — you get the same content and the same site either way.
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
- Delete personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not
collect or use sensitive personal information as that term is defined by the
CPRA.
Do not sell or share my personal information
We do not sell personal information for money. However, allowing advertising
partners to collect identifiers and browsing activity for interest-based advertising
is treated as a “sale” or “sharing” under California law. You can opt out in either of
these ways, and you do not need an account to do it:
- Global Privacy Control. If your browser or extension sends a
GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request for that browser
automatically. You do not have to do anything else. See
globalprivacycontrol.org
for browsers and extensions that support it. - Email us at hello@traveldays.unjoblink.org with the
subject line “Do Not Sell or Share”. Because we do not maintain accounts, an
opt-out sent this way applies to the information we can reasonably associate
with your request.
An opt-out is stored in your browser. Clearing cookies, switching browsers, or
using a different device will require you to opt out again.
Categories we have disclosed
In the past twelve months we have disclosed the following categories of personal
information to advertising and analytics partners for the business purpose of serving
and measuring advertising: identifiers (including cookie identifiers and IP address),
internet or other electronic network activity information (including browsing and
search activity on this site), and coarse geolocation inferred from IP address.
Making a request
Email hello@traveldays.unjoblink.org. We will verify your request by
replying to the address you write from and asking for enough detail to match your
request to the information we hold. An authorised agent may submit a request on your
behalf with written permission. We respond within 45 days, and will tell you if we
need the additional 45 days the law allows.
Other US state privacy rights
Residents of states with comparable privacy laws — including Colorado, Connecticut,
Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and Montana — have similar rights to access, delete,
correct, and opt out of targeted advertising. Use the same contact address above and
tell us which state you are writing from. Where those laws require us to honour a
universal opt-out signal, our GPC handling described above satisfies it.
If you are in the EEA or UK
This site is intended for readers in the United States and our advertising is aimed
at US audiences. If you visit from the EEA or UK, our lawful bases are our legitimate
interest in operating and funding the site, and consent where consent is required for
advertising or analytics cookies. You have the rights of access, rectification,
erasure, restriction, objection, and portability, and may complain to your local
supervisory authority.
Cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies will
not break the articles, but some features and preferences may not persist. Advertising
will still appear; it will simply be less relevant.
If you subscribe, we use your address only to send the newsletter you asked for.
Every message includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect
immediately. We do not sell, rent, or trade email addresses.
Children
This site is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal
information, write to hello@traveldays.unjoblink.org and we will delete it.
Retention and security
Analytics data is retained on the schedule set in our analytics provider’s
configuration. Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. We use reasonable
technical and organisational measures to protect information, though no method of
transmission or storage is completely secure.
Links to other sites
Articles link to other websites, including the businesses we write about. We are
not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Read their policies.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top.
Material changes will be noted on the page.
