This page sets out the standards Travel Days holds itself to: what we cover, how we
make sure it is right, and what we do when it is not.
What we cover
We write about independently owned places with a long record and a distinctive
signature — the diner that has been on the same corner for fifty years, the
bakery people drive across a county for, the roadside oddity that outlived the highway
that made it. We do not cover chains. Nobody can pay to appear here.
We also publish practical guides — passes, ferries, tolls, seasons and safety
rules — for the trips those places sit on.
Accuracy
Every specific detail we publish — a year, a price, an opening time, a rule, a
distance — comes from a source we can point to, and for practical guides that
means the official source for the rule itself. If we cannot confirm a detail, we leave
it out rather than guess. That is why our articles sometimes say less than you might
expect: we would rather omit a fact than print one we cannot stand behind.
We check that a place is still open before we publish. Hours, prices and rules
change, so treat every article as a starting point and confirm with the business or
agency before you travel.
Images
Our images are licensed, openly licensed, or made for us, and are credited where the
licence asks for it. They illustrate a category or a scene — a diner counter, a
two-lane road, a ferry deck — and are not pictures of the
specific business in an article unless we say so. We never use photographs taken from
businesses, social media or other publications.
Our writers
Our articles are written and edited by a small team. Some contributors write under
pen names; the standards on this page apply to every byline equally, and the
publisher is accountable for everything we print.
Advertising and independence
Advertising and affiliate commissions fund this site and never influence coverage.
Advertisers cannot buy an article, and no business we write about pays us. See our
affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
If we publish something wrong, we fix it and we say so. Substantive corrections get
a dated note at the foot of the article. Minor fixes — a typo, a broken link
— are made silently.
To request a correction, email hello@traveldays.unjoblink.org with the
article address and what is wrong. If you own or manage a business we have covered and
something is inaccurate, tell us and we will prioritise it. If you would prefer not to
be featured at all, say so and we will remove the article.
Updates
Articles show both a published date and a last-updated date. We revisit older
articles when details change or when a reader tells us something has.
